To enhance coffee productivity, quality, and marketing through innovative research and training.

To produce competent professionals that will have a significant impact on all levels of the coffee value chain from farm to cup ( coffee agronomy, coffee protection, coffee processing quality analysis, coffee marketing, and coffee business development and value chain).

To generate improved coffee production technologies, post-harvest management, processing, and handling.

CRTI vision & Mission

CRTI Vision: Aspires to be prestigious center of excellence in coffee Research and Training. The mission is:

  • Undertaking innovative research and practical-oriented training that enhance coffee yield, quality, and marketing to improve the livelihood of coffee farmer's community .
  • Generating improved coffee production technologies, post-harvest management, processing, and handling.


Research & community service coordinator


The RCS is responsible to:

  • Organize scientific workshops and research seminars.
  • Plans and executes multiplication of improved coffee seeds for research purposes and community service support.
  • Regularly supervise field and lab assistants and lab attendant's activities.
  • Prepare action plans for field and lab research activities following the annual plan of the institute.
  • Prepare and report quarter and annual reports on field and lab research activities.
  • Supervise overall activities in the coffee fields and research station and follow daily laborers monthly wages.




Training Coordinator


Coordinates all training activities and training programs of the Institute as per the plan of the institute. The major training program includes:

  • Post Graduate Program.

Research Mandates


DU CRTI has the following research mandates.

  • Developing Research Strategic plan for the Institute.
  • Developing/initiating/ internal and external funded projects.
  • Monitoring and Evaluating coffee researches undertaken in the University.
  • Providing and coordinating resources and facilities allocated for coffee research.


Training Mandates


DU CRTI has the following training mandates.

  • Responsible to coordinate both curriculum-based and non-curriculum-based training.
  • Undertake needs assent on training.
  • Develop innovative training programs with stakeholders.
